The Pink Granite Coast, Brittany
The Côte de granit rose in Brittany is an absolutely unique stretch of coastline; one of the most beautiful in Europe and certainly in Brittany. It's renowned for its unusual rock formations - and that's putting it mildly. Its like a natural fantasy park. The formations are Mandelbrot like in their never-ending detail and organically suggestive in their shapes and forms. Get the light right and it’s a pink photo-fest :-)
Brittany itself is a deep land; strongly reminiscent of Wales (but with a better climate), which is no surprise because it's populated by the post Roman British pushed out of England by the Anglo-Saxons into Wales and Brittany. They took their stories and legends with them, which is why Brittany is filled with legends of King Arthur, Merlin, fairies and spirits and Welsh and Breton speakers can pretty much still understand one another.
